Verb TO BE

VERB TO BE.

The verb to be is one of the most important in the English language. Its meaning is equivalent to the verbs be and be of Spanish, so depending on the context of the sentence it will be interpreted with one meaning or another.It is used as both a principal verb and an auxiliary verb and is irregular in both the present and past tenses.
The verb TO BE is:
-am: It is used for: i.
-is: Used for: she, he and it.
-are: Used for: you, we, they, you and they.
This can be used in the form: affirmative, negative and interrogative.
 "AFFIRMATIVE"
Affirmative sentences are those that declare or enunciate something true.
I         -  AM     -    I´M                             
YOU  -  ARE   -    YOU´RE
SHE   -  IS      -     SHE´S
HE     -  IS       -     HE´S                         
IT       -  IS       -     IT´S
WE    -  ARE   -     WE´RE
YOU  -  ARE   -     YOU´RE
THEY - ARE   -     THEY´RE
In English, the contracted form ('m,' re, s) is used for informal contexts. However, for formal contexts it is preferable to use the full form (am, is, are).

"NEGATIVE"
Negative sentences are those that deny something. Thus, the not particle is added after the verb.
I         -  AM     -    I´M NOT/ AM NOT                            
YOU  -  ARE   -    YOU´RE NOT/ ARE NOT/ AREN´T
SHE   -  IS      -     SHE´S NOT/ IS NOT/ ISN´T
HE     -  IS       -     HE´S NOT/ IS NOT/ ISN´T                            
IT       -  IS       -     IT´S NOT/ IS NOT/ ISN´T
WE    -  ARE   -     WE´RE NOT/ ARE NOT/ AREN´T
YOU  -  ARE   -     YOU´RE NOT/ ARE NOT/ AREN´T
THEY - ARE   -     THEY´RE NOT/ ARE NOT/ AREN´T

"INTERROGATIVE"
Interrogative sentences or questions are those that are used to request certain information.
I         -  AM     -   AM I...?                           
YOU  -  ARE   -   ARE YOU...?
SHE   -  IS      -   IS SHE...?  
HE     -  IS       -  IS HE...?    
IT       -  IS       -  IS IT...?
WE    -  ARE   -  ARE WE...?
YOU  -  ARE   -  ARE YOU...?   
THEY - ARE   -  ARE THEY...?
There is no contracted form for interrogative sentences.




Examples:
"AFFIRMATIVE"
She is tall.
We are students.
I am happy.
"NEGATIVE"
She isn´t tall.
They´re not students
I am not happy
"INTERROGATIVE"
Am I in the kitchen?
Is it for kids?
Are they on holiday?
